Course overview

Description: The goal of this program is to provide an overview of 9-8-8 and discuss collaborations between 9-8-8 and 9-1-1. This course will discuss 9-1-1 operations, specifically as they relate to crisis calls and the interoperability with 9-8-8 as a resource for local communities. Objectives: Participants will be able to: 1. Describe what 9-8-8 is and how to utilize it. 2. Describe the general duties and operations of a 9-1-1 center. 3. Distinguish between a 9-1-1 call requiring in-person emergency response and a call that can be handed off to 9-8-8 mental health resources. 4. Identify how 9-8-8 centers collaborate with 9-1-1. 5. Identify local area resources in the 9-1-1 and mental health services fields to begin interoperability discussions.
