Recurrent abdominal pain is a relatively common problem in children and is often associated with significant distress and disability. It is generally defined as a functional syndrome of recurring pain, usually located in the region of the belly button, with at least three episodes of pain occurring within three months that are severe enough to affect the child’s activities. This course focuses on a multidisciplinary treatment approach for recurrent abdominal pain. Learning Objectives: - Review a description of recurrent abdominal pain, including a definition of the disorder, onset, and prevalence. - Compare different treatment components to various treatment alternatives. - Review a description of the important steps and techniques from the multidisciplinary treatment approach.
