This intermediate and above level course is tailored for counselors, marriage and family therapists, psychologists, and social workers seeking to enhance their expertise in addressing substance use disorders (SUD) among justice-involved adolescents. This course will include Understanding the Prevalence of Substance Use Disorders (SUD) among Justice-Involved Adolescents, Identifying Factors Influencing the Completion of SUD Treatment among Justice-Involved Adolescents, and Exploring Treatment Approaches to Substance Use and Misuse within the Juvenile Justice System. It is important to examine the unique challenges justice-involved adolescents face in completing SUD treatment. We will also identify individual, familial, and systemic factors influencing treatment completion rates. By the end of this course, participants will have gained specialized knowledge and practical insights into the complexities surrounding SUD among justice-involved adolescents.
