#7416 REC Sympathetic Nervous System Suppression Training: Advanced Rehab for Elite Performance
Tracking # 20-1165966
Course overview
Many of our patients/clients are required to perform strenuous activities which mandate an increase in sympathetic nervous system activity to successfully perform their occupational/recreational activities. Often this also requires simultaneously performing higher-level cognitive and/or fine-motor functions, which degrade in a high sympathetic state. The purpose of this training session is to provide participants with an understanding of how to incorporate Sympathetic Nervous System Suppression Training (SNSST) into their plans of care. It does not require additional time, rather, SNSST is incorporated during the natural rest intervals between sets/exercises. During the course of rehabilitation, most of these patients/clients are unable to train and/or perform these tasks and their ability to switch dominant states can be impaired. This training allows the patient to activate their parasympathetic nervous system quickly and efficiently during critical moments of their sport or occupational activities. This ability to transition is important for competitive athletes, military, law enforcement, fire fighters, emergency medical services, search & rescue and other professions as these individuals must be able to rapidly activate their sympathetic nervous system for performance, but also perform at a high cognitive level and/or fine motor level. Training of this type has been used by the United States Special Operations Command for several years Course instruction method includes: Lecture, Demonstration, Videos, Group Discussion, and Question and Answer.
