Assessment and Training of Infant Sitting
Tracking # 20-1166216
Course overview
Physiotherapists working with infants and toddlers may need to assess a child in sitting. Sitting assessments have two objectives: determining where the child is in their developmental pathway and establishing what they can and can't do and why. This course will describe how to assess sitting focusing specifically on two common assessment tools: the Segmental Assessment of Trunk Control (SATCo) and the Alberta Infant Motor Scale (AIMS). It then details strategies to enable therapists to support each stage of sitting development. However the assessment and training of sitting are only part of a therapy session. There must also be a conversation with the family or caregivers to ensure a family-centred approach to setting goals and planning interventions. Physiopedia Plus courses are accessed through a monthly ($31) or yearly ($237) membership. Use discount code CEBROKER30 to get 30% discount on yearly full or pro membership.
