Neuropathy foot deformity and trauma are the most common combination of factors leading to foot neuropathic ulcers. Proper assessment and identification of patients at risk for ulcer formation is vital in wound prevention and complication management. Ongoing and thorough evaluation is critical in managing and preventing diabetic foot ulcers. Prevention of a foot ulcer is more efficient clinically and financially than foot ulcer treatment and closure. This course discusses recommended guidelines for neuropathy assessment explores how to identify an at-risk foot and provides an overview of education on foot self-care and ulceration prevention.
