Physical activity which includes active play for children is related to better health outcomes and is recognised as one of the most efficient ways to enhance a persons health across their lifespan. However current generations of children play for shorter durations and they play less frequently outside than their parents generation. There is also a shift in childrens physical activity from unsupervised and unstructured outdoor play towards structured and supervised activities primarily performed indoors.
