Chronic pain is common in displaced persons. It can be challenging to manage due to its multifactorial and often traumatic nature. Clinicians must understand the complex mechanisms behind the development of chronic pain in displaced persons if they are to develop an effective treatment strategy. While the overall approach to managing pain is similar in displaced persons to other populations the selection of tools and techniques varies depending on available resources and the patient's level of acceptance.
