Course overview

Practising wound care can be complicated. There are many factors to consider when assessing and treating a wound. Some of these factors are within the control of the rehabilitation professional while others are not. There are three classifications of factors which can affect wound healing: (1) intrinsic (2) extrinsic and (3) iatrogenic. By gaining an understanding of these key factors the rehabilitation professional can adjust the plan of care to obtain the best possible healing outcome. This course the fourth of seven in the Physiotherapy Wound Care Programme will discuss these three factors. This course is for those that are currently practising wound care and also for those that do not treat wounds directly but work in other capacities with patients that have wounds.
