High Functioning Cerebral Palsy Physiotherapy Assessment and Intervention
Tracking # 20-1167154
Course overview
Cerebral palsy is a heterogeneous non-progressive neuromotor disorder that affects movement and posture. Primary impairments associated with cerebral palsy include spasticity weakness decreased motor control and movement dysfunction. Cerebral palsy can also lead to a number of secondary musculoskeletal conditions which can also affect functional ability. The physical examination of a child with cerebral palsy needs to be systematic to identify areas that should be addressed in rehabilitation. When selecting interventions for children with cerebral palsy we should choose active interventions that are goal- and task-oriented and focus on the contexts in which a child will be playing and working. As will be demonstrated in this course the assessment and intervention of a child with high-functioning cerebral palsy will ideally be fun and engaging.
