Lessons Learned From Dancing Feet Top Tips For Injury Management Of The Foot And Ankle Webinar
Tracking # 20-1167942
Course overview
Why is it important to talk about injury management in dance? As rehabilitation professionals we can appreciate the demands placed on the ankles and feet of dancers. However the approach to assessment and treatment can vary greatly when encountering an acute dancing injury compared to a non-traumatic overuse injury. It is the clinician's responsibility to learn the risk factors involved in foot/ankle injuries and provide education to the dancer. In this course Michelle Green-Smerdon explores the connection between how symptoms are seen clinically and how an injury is defined. She looks at this active patient population's risk factors barriers performance potential and expected psychological and pain responses to help clinicians answer the ever-present question 'how serious is my injury and when can I return to dancing?' Finally she offers practical tips for injury management of the foot/ankle which can be applied to a wider population.
