The human body is an amazing machine that typically finds a way to make mobility happen. However this sometimes results in less than optimal movement patterns. The rehabilitation professional's role is to guide patients through a plan of care to improve and/or correct movement dysfunction ultimately resulting in an ideal movement for that unique individual. There are often two schools of thought in physiotherapy: neurological and musculoskeletal clinical paradigms. This course the eighth of nine in the Gait Analysis and Training Programme attempts to bridge the gap between these two paradigms and provide a basic introduction to neurological gait from the point of view of an orthopaedic/musculoskeletal therapist. It will provide an overview of the movement system classification discuss common neurological gait deviations and provide examples of clinically applicable interventions.
