Risk Factors and Injury Mechanisms in Sports
Tracking # 20-1169298
Course overview
The nature of injuries varies between sports and because injuries are often caused by a combination of factors it can be difficult to establish the specific mechanism of a sporting injury. It also remains difficult to truly and confidently prevent injuries. Ultimately the goal of sports rehabilitation professionals is to reduce the risk of injury as much as possible. A key step in injury prevention is to identify possible risk factors. Risk factors such as strength and balance can be modifiable whereas risk factors such as age and previous injury are non-modifiable. For effective risk mitigation strategies and injury prevention interventions it is necessary to understand these risk factors and injury mechanisms.
