Course overview

Many of the positive benefits associated with manual therapy are often short-term in nature. Furthermore, when not applied with the proper intention in mind, some patients can believe that their outcome is dependent on manual therapy being performed regularly. This can create a patient dependence that is not in line with what our intentions should be as clinicians for most of our clients. This lab-based course will focus on exercise interventions that aim to prolong the immediate effects achieved when applying manual therapy. These exercise options will focus on improving and maintaining ROM, coordination, and strength, which will lead directly to improved tolerance and performance of both ADLs and recreational/exercise activities. Parts of this course will tie in directly with the Evidence-Based Manual Therapy Techniques 6-hour course offered the same day.
