Low back pain is the leading cause of disability in most countries. Numerous classification systems are used to manage pain and improve function including the treatment-based classification (TBC) system. This validated system is designed to help clinicians make treatment decisions based on a patient's clinical presentation. It triages patients with back pain into three treatment groups: medical management rehabilitation management and self-care management. Within the rehabilitation category there are three specific management approaches. This course provides a detailed discussion of the TBC system.
