REQUIREMENTS

Course overview

In addition to the twenty (24) CEU’s required by board rule, all licensed massage therapists are required to complete a board approved course (no specific number of hours) in HIV/AIDS [Section 456.034, F.S.]. IN ORDER TO COUNT TOWARD RENEWAL, CONTINUING EDUCATION MUST BE COMPLETED DURING THE RENEWAL CYCLE (between September 1 and August 31]. The Board sets forth specific course requirements for the twenty-four (24) hours of continuing education, as follows: 1. At least twelve (12) hours in massage therapy techniques (including history of massage therapy, human anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, and/or pathology). 2. Two (2) hours in professional ethics. 3. Two (2) hours in Chapters 480 and 456, Part II, Florida Statutes, and Chapter 64B7, Florida Administrative Code. 4. Two (2) hours in Prevention of Medical Errors.
