Mental Health in the Older Adult

Course overview

Aspects of interpersonal and social interaction, as well as common life events, can affect mental illness as adults age. This course examines the elements that make-up the mental and emotional functioning of the older adult population and focuses on proper nursing assessment and treatment. Mental and emotional health issues and chronic health disorders that exacerbate mental health issues are presented in this course and covered in detail, specifically delirium, sleep disturbances, depression, coping, anxiety disorders, psychotic disturbances, and substance use.
