LEARNING OBJECTIVES Recognize and analyze the challenges associated with interpreting cytologic specimens of Bile Duct Brushings (BDBs), including the complexity of overlapping morphologic features between non-neoplastic, low-grade neoplastic, and malignant bile duct strictures. Establish a correlation between specific cytomorphologic characteristics observed in BDB samples and the presence of genetic mutations associated with high-risk strictures, using Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) as a diagnostic tool. Evaluate the potential impact and clinical implications of incorporating NGS into BDB cytology algorithms, considering the improved sensitivity and diagnostic accuracy in identifying high-risk and malignant strictures.
