Course overview

This course reviews the etiology of keratoconus and presents the newest research regarding the current understanding of the disease process. The prevalence of keratoconus throughout the world will be discussed, and the role of inflammation and the environment, as well as genetics on the development and progression of keratoconus. The current management strategies, including corneal cross-linking for progression management and rigid gas permeable lenses for refractive management, will be discussed.
