Course overview

Foot and ankle dysfunction are a common sequela of aging and trauma. These dysfunctions are encountered by the rehab professional. The challenges in managing these injuries can create diminished function and result in increased long-term healthcare costs. This course will discuss common geriatric foot and ankle dysfunction including foot deformities, posterior tibial tendon insufficiency, and post-surgical management of total ankle arthroplasty. We will cover the anatomy frequently involved, current evidence on post-surgical management, pitfalls and pearls for rehab, and treatment considerations for managing these individuals throughout the rehab process.
