This program will inform nurses about how to recognize and manage the most common causes of upper and lower gastrointestinal bleeding. After studying the information presented here, you’ll be able to: name nine common causes of GI bleeding, discuss six diagnostic methods for evaluating a GI bleed, and describe three ways in which nurses can provide tertiary prevention to patients with a GI bleed.
