CREMATION: THE PROCESS

Course overview

Cremation is the process in which human remains are placed in a chamber (retort) and, through heat and vaporization, the body is reduced to its basic elements. This chemical process is known as oxidation. The chemical process of oxidation is exactly the same process that takes place when a body buried in a grave has completely decomposed and returned to the earth. The process of cremation merely speeds up what nature will eventually do. That is, return to the soil the basic elements of a human body. Throughout the history of humanity, cremation has been an acceptable and, many times, the preferred means of final disposition. Some cultures and religions do not approve of because it is believed that a body cremated cannot be resurrected on judgment day. Yet, cremation does in no way violate nature from a scientific standpoint. This course is a technical look at cremation; and give you the knowledge of the crematory and its workings. By better understanding the process yourself, you will be able to better assist your client family
