Course overview

Value like beauty is in the eye of the beholder. A challenge facing Funeral Directors is being able to identify where the eye of the client family is focusing. We know the focus on value has been changing over the last few years, and the Funeral Industry has been striving to keep right along that change. Recognizing the direction the industry is taking and determining if we are keeping pace is critical for our long term survival. By thoroughly understanding the direction we can strategically plan to provide services that add value to the service we provide. We need to present a positive image of this value rather than appear as just another reason to increase costs. As professionals we usually determine our value based on our own Internal Knowledge instead of external feedback or the public's perception of value. This misalignment in values can create confusion. What we are providing may not be what the public thinks we should be providing recognizing the changes occurring in the funeral service has become critical for success. Being prepared is essential. While it is true the public may not always know what they want it is also true they always know what they don't want. As a caring professional it becomes your responsibility to help them discover just what it is that will bring meaning to the service you are providing.
