Course overview

Participants will be able to name significant factors for increased suicide risk using the 24 Core Competencies established by the Suicide Prevention Resource Center and Education Development Center, will be able to describe how to use appropriate questions and interventions in assessing suicide risk and lethality, will be able to develop an effective Safety Plan when suicide risk is assessed, will be able to assess at-risk populations and formulate a plan of care for clients identified as potentially high risk, will be able to document their suicide assessment, protecting the client and themselves, and will be able to describe ethical obligations and considerations when serving clients expressing suicidal ideation and/or intent.
