Learn moreCourse overview
In this workshop we will address the connection between the experience of insecure attachment in childhood and the subsequent impact it has on a client's inability to navigate their emotional states and self-soothe in healthy ways. Participants will then be introduced to a number of creative treatment strategies designed to help traumatized teens and adults develop and enhance affect regulation skills. These strategies will help to promote grounding, containment, self-soothing, and emotional stabilization. Participants will learn about techniques that incorporate activation of mirror neurons, soothing breath work, resourcing with body movement, guided imagery, and simple flashback halting protocols. Clients' artwork and case studies will be incorporated into the training.
