Self Care Assistive Technology
Tracking # 20-1185426
Course overview
Timely access to appropriate assistive technology (AT) for individuals with disabilities, older individuals or individuals with health conditions allows them to maintain and improve their function, health, and well-being. Assistive technology can facilitate active engagement in many aspects of life, including school, work, and social activities. Many different assistive technology devices and products can assist with self-care, from grooming, bathing and toileting aids to dressing and feeding aids. However, healthcare providers must ensure that an assistive technology device is suitable for the user, considering their environment and functional requirements. This course explores considerations for assistive technology provision and introduces types of assistive devices that are commonly used for self-care.
