Course overview

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in men and women. This course presents an overview of lung cancer including controllable risk factors, diagnostic tests, and the care and management of lung cancer. It includes the newest staging guidelines and therapies. Course Objectives: * Describe the epidemiological trends for lung cancer in the United States. * Identify risk factors associated with lung cancer development. * Discuss measures to prevent lung cancer. * Describe the development and clinical manifestations of lung cancer. * Describe components of the diagnostic evaluation for lung cancer. * Discuss the current treatment options for non-small cell and small cell lung cancer. * Describe management strategies to alleviate the common symptoms of lung cancer. * Identify measures to provide psychosocial support to the patient and family.
