Character Strengths As Moderators of the Relationship Between Adverse Childhood Experiences and Negative Health Outcomes

Course overview

This course examines the role of character strengths in the relationship between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and negative physical and mental health outcomes. The research evaluates the relationship between participants' ACEs and negative health outcomes, the relationship between character strengths and negative outcomes, and the moderating effect of character strengths. While the present study did not find evidence that character strengths mitigated effects of ACEs, results indicate these strengths do have an independent effect on physical and mental health.
