Cognitive behavioral therapy (or CBT) is a psychotherapeutic approach that aims to influence dysfunctional emotions, behaviors and cognitions through a goal-oriented, systematic procedure. CBT has been applied in the field of rehabilitation psychology to assist injured and ill individuals to “reprogram” how they think about and cope with the challenges in their lives. This program briefly reviews the theoretical basis for CBT as well as some of its major concepts. In addition, provides concrete suggestions as to how to apply these concepts when managing workers compensation cases..
