Through the course of Innervation - A Review for the Muscle-Nerve Connection, we hope to achieve the following five objectives:
1. Review the basic anatomy and physiology of skeletal muscles and nerves, and their roles within motor units.
2. Understand the mechanisms behind the force of contraction, proprioception, muscle spindles, and Golgi tendon organs.
3. Examine the neuromuscular junction and discuss the clinical relevance of reflexes, twitch, and tetany in muscle function.
4. Identify the crucial connections between true and sham acupuncture interventions and the impact on cranial and spinal nerves.
5. Memorize key muscle innervation pathways for the head, neck, trunk, and extremities, and understand the clinical importance of dermatomes and effective acupuncture points in preventing rare adverse effects.
