Course overview

Legionnaires' disease is a type of pneumonia that can rapidly progress if not identified and treated promptly. It is caused by the bacteria Legionella, which is found in natural freshwater bodies and contaminated water sources such as large water systems in buildings. Reports indicate that Legionella infections have increased over the past 20 years. The healthcare team needs to be knowledgeable about the risk factors, diagnosis, and treatment of Legionnaires' disease. The goal of this course is to provide the healthcare team with information about Legionnaires' disease, including transmission, clinical presentation, diagnosis, and management.
