Course overview

Evidence-based practice allows nurses to use credible research to improve patient outcomes. Patients receive the best management and treatment options by providing care through these practices. This course reviews the evidence behind three initiatives: Spontaneous breathing and awakening trials for patients requiring mechanical ventilation, prevention of central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSIs), and the importance of early initiation of enteral nutrition in critically ill patients to reduce the risk of malnutrition. It will use review questions and story-based learning to promote active learning. The goal of this course is to provide evidence-based recommendations to nurses in acute care settings regarding sedation management, central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSIs), and early enteral feeding to prevent malnutrition.
