Course overview
Treatment of older patients can present you with many challenges that are not encountered with younger patients that may be difficult. Providing effective treatment for this increasing number of patients will require you to understand the issues related to aging and modify some of your assessment and treatment approaches. After completing this course, the practitioner will be able to: Describe the pathophysiology of common conditions affecting geriatric patients Discuss psychiatric emergencies in the older population. Discuss assessment and management of common conditions and injuries affecting geriatric patients, including respiratory, cardiovascular, neurologic, endocrine, gastrointestinal, renal, and toxicologic emergencies.
