Assaultive Behavior in the Healthcare Workplace

Course overview

This course discusses the extent and types of workplace violence in the healthcare industry, with evidence-based methods of prevention and/or reduction of incidents in the future. Up-to-date information and resources are also provided to decrease lasting psychological damage to the healthcare workers involved and bystanders who witness the event. Training methods and risk assessment tools for identifying people who may perpetrate assaultive behaviors are also included. Several case studies are given to deepen understanding and trigger associations with the materials.
