Course overview

Predictable treatment success depends on comprehensive assessment and planning, the quality of the implant site and tissue response, and selection of appropriate implants and custom restorative components. Technological advances in digital dentistry are rapidly changing the way the dental team practices in the operatory and laboratory. This program will review recent advances in digital technology: the increasing importance of the partnership between the dentist and the lab; the differences between various materials used for copings and abutment; surgical planning software for implant placement and restoration; and the many benefits available to the treatment team when using digital dentistry solutions. In addition, we will review relevant hygiene maintenance recommendations as it pertains to dental implants. 1. Discuss the team approach and importance of using digital technology for diagnosis and communication 2. Recognize how to incorporate recent technological advances as part of the treatment plan 3. Understand how digital impressions can help create an accurate final restoration 4. Understand the materials and processes available for CAD/CAM restorations 5. Understand the relevant hygiene maintenance recommendations
