Course overview

The Aquatic Emergencies course focuses on the unique challenges and high-pressure situations that emergency responders face when dealing with aquatic emergencies. With drowning incidents being a common occurrence, it is crucial for responders to have a deep understanding of the pathophysiology of drowning, including the protective function of hypothermia, and to recognize the signs and symptoms of a drowning victim. The course also covers water-related traumatic injuries, watercraft accidents, the laws of pressure and gases in SCUBA diving, and the pathophysiology and appropriate care for diving emergencies such as decompression sickness. By completing this course, participants will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively respond to and manage various aquatic emergencies, ensuring the best possible outcomes for the victims involved.
