Vestibular Rehabilitation: Diagnosis, Screening, and Treatment

Course overview

The vestibular system (inner ear) is integral in maintaining balance and communicating with the brain about where our body is in space. In this 1-hour, view-on-demand, recorded webinar, participants learn a general screening process, anatomy, common diagnoses, and treatment for common vestibular dysfunction. Take your understanding of the vestibular system to the next level and apply these skills to your practice immediately! At the end of this course, you will be able to (1) identify CNS signs vs. peripheral vestibular signs of dysfunction with screening, (2) identify three useful tests for determining vestibular challenges, (3) state the role of the vestibular system, as it relates to balance and movement during daily occupations, and (4) list two interventions for the treatment of vestibular dysfunction in pediatric clients. This distance-learning, independent format is offered at 0.1 CEUs, Introductory Level, OT Service Delivery, Foundational Knowledge, and targeted to introductory- to intermediate-level OTs, COTAs, PTs, PTAs, and other pediatric professionals. The course instructor, Paige Day, DPT, is an experienced vestibular physical therapist dedicated to specializing in the treatment and management of vestibular disorders. She owns a private practice for vestibular rehabilitation and also runs an online wellness program focused on returning to movement while managing dizziness.
