Course overview

Learner Objectives: As a result of having attended the meeting, the participants should have had the opportunity to: Objectives: Summarize pneumothorax presentations and nuances related to in-chamber diagnosis. Review the mechanistic basis for non-surgical management of in-chamber pneumothorax. The reader should understand how distinct frequency band components of acquired bio-electrical impedance signals can be correlated with the detection of: a) post-dive bubbles (diagnosis of Decompression Sickness) and b) arterial endothelial dysfunction, which are markers of decompression stress. The reader should realize the advantages of electrical impedance spectroscopy over the ultrasound imaging, with regard to the assessment of decompression stress. The reader should realize that bio-electrical impedance measurements are simple to perform and can provide valuable information for different pathological situations.
