Course overview
In the US there are 1.2 million people diagnosed with Parkinson's and that number is growing exponentially. This is a diagnosis that is progressive and since every person with Parkinson's presents differently, it can be very challenging to manage as a therapy team. With increasing restrictions on the amount of therapy these individuals can access, it is even more important to make each session count. In this course, we explore how to empower you and your patients to remove the challenging barriers to optimizing motor control and learning for enhanced outcomes and quality of life for people with Parkinson's. Let's allow our patients to "Be you, not Parkinson's". This course will provide you with practical strategies to address key barriers to optimizing motor control and new learning for many people with Parkinson's. Participants will learn about medications and non-motor symptoms that get in the way of progress as well as management techniques to optimize movement. We will utilize case studies, videos, and picture examples to optimize learning. When you return to your practice you will be able to implement treatment techniques that will prepare and promote new learning, enhance motor control, maximize therapy outcomes, and diminish your burnout with this challenging population.
