Reflex Integration Visuals for the Pediatric Professionals

Course overview

Evidence-based studies indicate that retained primitive reflexes can negatively impact a child's ability to interact with other children and motor coordination, attention, and impulse control. By including functional movements into the daily routine, primitive reflexes can integrate or mature, allowing the child to participate in their daily occupations with improved confidence and coordination. This 2-hour, view-on-demand, recorded webinar shares simple visuals and activities to facilitate improved primitive reflex integration in children in a variety of settings through play. At the end of this course, you will be able to (1) state the evidence supporting the negative impact retained primitive reflexes have on daily occupations, (2) identify research that supports primitive reflex integration to improve functional performance in daily occupations, (3) list three functional, play-based integration activities for the ATNR, and (4) identify evidence-based integration programs and plans that can be used in a variety of settings. This distance-learning, independent format is offered at 0.2 CEUs, Introductory Level, OT Service Delivery, Foundational Knowledge, and targeted to pediatric OTs, COTAs, SLPs, PTs, PTAs, educators, parents, and other pediatric professionals.
