This course is designed to address the growing problems of alcohol and marijuana misuse among young people. The use of substances to change the way a person feels starts at a very young age for some people and continues into adulthood. Discussion will include the effects of substance use on the developing brain, behavior problems, and resulting addiction for many. In this presentation, Dr.Patterson will explore risk factors for substance use and protective factors that help prevent it, signs and symptoms of use, and how and when to talk to children about substance use.
