Course overview

Animal Welfare Expertise collaborates with Veterinary Expertise to deeply evaluate the role of Racial Equity in the professions and how they are deeply linked. By focusing on the awareness of self and culture within our veterinary spaces, all veterinary team members (veterinarians, veterinary technicians and assistants, practice managers, client coordinators, instructors, shelters, etc.) can have critical roles to play in the improvement of access to care through collaboration understanding the marginalization we place on each other and clients/community members without intentional action. We review the implicit biases and privileges we each have and break down some common areas of opportunity while supporting the continued self-awareness journey. This is done in a safe and supportive way, while giving opportunities for further discovery and actual opportunities for change within our individual environments.
