Course overview

About 7% of the population report experiencing a dissociative experience at some point in their life span, and about 2% of the population experience dissociative identity disorder. However, due to the controversy surrounding dissociative disorders, many practitioners have not been trained to identify or treat these disorders. In this workshop, you will learn about dissociation and its manifestations in neurobiology, emotions and behaviors. We will discuss practical techniques and tools to implement if a client experiences a dissociative episode in session. In addition, we will provide an overview of the evidence base and efficacy for treatment of dissociation.
