Laws and Rules for Polysomnographers in Louisiana

After completion of this course, licensed polysomnographers should be able to:

1. Understand and apply the provisions of the Polysomnography Practice Act (law) of the state of Louisiana.
2. Understand and apply the Board’s rules pertaining to the practice of polysomnography.
3. Understand the scope of practice for polysomnographers.
4. Understand and apply the basic ethical guidelines underpinning the practice of polysomnography in the state of Louisiana.
5. Know where to go and what to do in the case of an impaired professional whether self or other.
6. Understand the procedures the Board follows upon receiving a complaint about a polysomnographer or other licensee.
7. Understand the investigation and adjudication processes if a complaint leads to a formal investigation.
