Manual Therapy Considerations in Clinical Practice
Tracking # 20-1207748
Course overview
The International Federation of Orthopaedic Manipulative Physical Therapists (IFOMPT) defines orthopaedic manual physical therapy as: 'a specialised area of physiotherapy/physical therapy for the management of neuro-musculoskeletal conditions based on clinical reasoning using highly specific treatment approaches including manual techniques and therapeutic exercises. Orthopaedic Manual Therapy also encompasses and is driven by the available scientific and clinical evidence and the biopsychosocial framework of each individual patient.' Manual therapy is not a new concept. It has been performed for millennia to help people with pain. There are however many arguments both for and against manual therapy. This course will explore some of the research supporting the use of manual therapy. It also highlights how clinicians can apply it in their practice to achieve positive results while encouraging independence in their clients.
