Tracking # 20-1210236
Course overview
Concerns related to the high cesarean birth rate in the United States have driven the development of safety initiatives that focus on promoting vaginal birth. Knowledge of current professional recommendations and guidelines related to the safe promotion of vaginal birth can aid clinicians and hospitals in decreasing their risk exposure. This activity is part 2 of a 3-part series. Part 1 reviews the statistics related to cesarean birth and case studies of malpractice claims involving unnecessary cesareans. Part 2 covers the revised definitions and recommendations related to safe prevention of cesarean birth that promote vaginal birth. Part 3 offers specific interventions and positioning techniques to promote vaginal delivery. Key risk mitigation strategies are included in each part.
