The Role of Biochemistry Panels in the Minimum Database Part II of the Veterinary Technicians Learning Journey

Course overview

The biochemistry panel is made up of tests that reflect the activity and function of many internal organs. When paired with electrolytes, the biochemistry panel can offer insights into the patients health that extend well beyond the physical exam, so it is a key component of the laboratory minimum database for sick and apparently healthy pets. This self guided course will use an organ system approach to study the biochemistry panel and begin to integrate findings with hematology and urinalysis results. Veterinary technicians guide quality and output of laboratory results, so we will reinforce best laboratory practices to optimize results. Learners will progress from patient preparation through sample acquisition to in house sample processing or reference laboratory submission.
