Medication administration is one of the most critical functions of medical practice. Doses must be prepared, dispensed and administered safely and appropriately. When administered incorrectly, consequences can be harmful and threaten the life of the patient. Potential outcomes include increased LOS, acute or chronic disability of even death. Medication errors may also affect the person - nurse, respiratory therapist, MA or provider - both emotionally and professionally resulting in loss of position, legal consequences or loss of license to practice. In this course, we will discuss how to sharpen your critical thinking skills as it applies to medication administration.
