Pain neuroscience education (PNE) has gained much notice and favor in the last twenty years for its use in educating patients about their pain. This course will present a general overview of PNE, defining terms surrounding PNE and reviewing the evidence of PNE's use in treating chronic pain. In addition, the predictors for chronic pain and indicators for the use of PNE will be outlined, along with contributors to the chronic pain experience. Possible interventions, along with PNE, that can affect and mitigate painful symptoms, will be described.
