Course overview

Many community-dwelling seniors are fearful of falling or have a history of falling. Falls effect 25% of all seniors which has become an epidemic. This requires proactive intervention as the number of seniors aging in place continues to grow. Research has shown that exercise programs for seniors should be more than 3 hours/week. How can we provide this through traditional rehabilitation programs which are limited by factors such as transportation, access to programs or payment systems? Telerehabilitation, or the provision of rehab programs over the internet, may be one answer. Learn how to conduct a fall prevention program safely over ZOOM using an evidence-based program like Otago. Seniors are interested in fall prevention classes and will appreciate the multifaceted knowledge that rehabilitation therapists can bring to their home environments.
